Des Moines Water Works

The Design of the 120 foot-tall lookout tower gives an iconic element in the existing Water Works Park. It serves as a platform that draws people from the entrance of the park along the path to conclude with the ultimate experience at the top. This experience is meant to be the "Framing" view of the overall concept of these conjoining systems. Viewers will be able to see the skyline of Des Moines, Raccoon River, and Water Works Park. Seeing these three important systems visually will inspire the important relationship these systems have with each other.

These Three Cardinal concepts should be at the heart of every designer and every project.
Path - a path is defined as a space one travels or traverses. It articulates the function of movement and transportation.
Bench - A bench is a place of temporary rest. The goal of a bench should be transitional space that provides both options to move or rest.
Platform/Stage - A stage should be associated with destination, performance and experience. It should be a space that creates focus and stimulates the senses.
